Bits & Bytes - Autumn 2025

Article by The Final Step in IT Support, Security, Security First Mindset on Sep 30, 2025

Welcome to our Autumn newsletter

As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, we're sharing some important Bits and Bytes to keep you secure and productive for the rest of the year and beyond.

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month around the globe and we've written about some actions you should add to your security calendar for the rest of 2025 and beyond, including World Backup Day, National Password Day, and more. These days serve as a reminder to consider your overall security posture if you've veered off track throughout the year or if some areas might just need a refresh.

We're also sharing the first of many Knowledge Base pages, which serve as a central hub for our Copilot content. Our first one is for Outlook, where we've included some videos that you've seen before, as well as some brand new tips and some "quick start recipes". There's also a comprehensive, free to download Prompt Pack for Outlook for you to experiment with. Let us know what you think!

It's Cyber Security Awareness Month..

Every year, October is recognised as Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Its purpose is to raise awareness and encourage individuals and organisations to take action that makes us more resilient.

Launched in 2004 by the Department for Homeland Security in the US, it has become a global phenomenon. Europe’s education programme has run since 2014, coordinated by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity.

Of course, cyber security is not just for October; it’s for every day of the year. Cyber Security Awareness Month might prompt you to start several initiatives that, despite good intentions, run out of steam. To avoid this, you could plan a calendar of events, reviews, initiatives and education that you can spread across twelve months or four quarters.

In our latest blog, we've shared some actions you should consider adding to your cyber security calendar.

Improve your cyber security calendar.

Stay cyber safe this October

October, being Cyber Security Awareness Month, feels like a timely reminder to review, as recent events have shown how costly, disruptive, and upsetting attacks can be on infrastructure, private businesses, and individuals.

This year's theme focuses on the fundamentals of online safety. We've expanded on that in our article, as we've seen an increase in requests for broader security-related audits.

September has had a "back to school" feel with us attending conferences, an AI masterclass and this week, a best practices conference learning from our peers. Here's to a safe and productive last quarter of 2025!
