How our SharePoint migration service works
Assess
Roadmap your journey

We plan and undertake many types of SharePoint migration...
- From on-premise servers to SharePoint Online.
- From third party repositories, e.g. Google or Dropbox to SharePoint.
- From legacy systems to SharePoint.
- From Microsoft tenancy to tenancy.
- From multiple systems after mergers, acquisitions or divestitures.
- To SharePoint but with a NAS involved for quick local access.

Assessment may involve a test to check it works for you.
But some migrations require a mini-project at the start to determine if it will satisfy all stakeholders. We can help you verify the migration's value.

Use SharePoint to be more productive, competitive and secure
Most new working practices require some training and careful bedding-in.
SharePoint is a great tool, but you need to understand it and set some ground rules to get the most from it.
Training and policies can be invaluable in explaining the new structure. Make sure everyone knows how SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams fit together. Where data is held, what is backed up, when it expires (particularly in the case of Teams), and how it is securely shared.

SharePoint Migration Services FAQs
GDPR compliance during a migration comes down to three things: keeping data within the right geographic boundaries, maintaining strict access controls and ensuring clear audit trails.
Throughout the migration, data stays within the same regional data centre and does not move outside compliant boundaries. Access to the destination environment is tightly controlled from the start: sites are locked down to a single admin user during creation, and permissions are then configured to mirror exactly what was in place at the source. The environment is, if anything, more tightly controlled during migration than in normal operation.
The ROI of moving to SharePoint Online tends to come through in a few areas. First, infrastructure cost savings: moving to the cloud eliminates on-premise server hardware, licensing and maintenance costs. Research from IDC found that companies using SharePoint in the cloud see infrastructure cost savings of up to 40%. Second, productivity gains: a Forrester study found that SharePoint reduces time spent in meetings and searching for documents, and Microsoft's own research indicates document filing time can be reduced significantly when files are properly managed in SharePoint Online.
Beyond the numbers, SharePoint Online provides access from any device, automatic updates, tighter integration with the rest of Microsoft 365 and better external collaboration capabilities, none of which require ongoing server management on your part. If you would like to work through the specific ROI case for your business, we are happy to do that together.
Yes. We can deliver training as part of a broader SharePoint implementation project, particularly useful if you are migrating from Google Workspace or another platform, or as a standalone exercise if your team is already on Microsoft 365 but needs to build better habits around saving, sharing and collaborating on files.
Good habits from the outset make a significant difference. Saving documents in SharePoint rather than locally means your data is backed up, accessible to the right people and available wherever your team is working. We cover not just the mechanics of the system but the reasoning behind it, so people understand why the new approach is better. That makes adoption far more likely to stick.
For a mid-sized business, a SharePoint migration typically takes four to six weeks with no meaningful downtime during that period. The process mirrors that of a Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 migration: a pre-stage transfer of the bulk of your data, followed by a delta migration to capture anything created in the interim, and then a clean cutover once everything has been tested and confirmed.
The right answer depends on what version of SharePoint Server you are currently running. If you are on a supported version and an in-place upgrade is feasible without significant disruption or risk, it is worth doing from a security standpoint. Keeping software current is always preferable to leaving known vulnerabilities in place.
That said, the longer-term direction of travel is clear. SharePoint Online offers better scalability, security, ongoing feature updates and collaboration capabilities than any on-premise version, and Microsoft's investment is firmly in the cloud platform. Our general recommendation is to move to SharePoint Online as quickly and securely as your situation allows.
