Ofcom estimates nearly 45 million people received a suspicious call or message over the summer.

Text scams are the most common, with three-quarters of 16-34 year olds targeted. Whilst sixty per cent of over-75s received a suspicious call to a landline.

[Familiarise yourself with Ofcom’s advice](https://www.ofcom.org.uk/news-centre/2021/45-million-people-targeted-by-scams) on what to do if you receive a suspicious text or call. Be aware that **the headline advice is**:

- Forward suspicious texts to 7726 (the numbers that spell “spam” on your phone).
- Report scam call to [Action Fraud](https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/), 0300 123 2040.
