Two minute interview
What job would you do if not IT?
I would like to have been a journalist reporting on computer games or films. I am a regular reader of film and game magazines. In fact, they occupy quite a bit of my spare time.
What are your favourite pastimes?
I get caught up pretty fully in stories, which is why I like cinema and gaming so much. I have a particular interest in fantasy stories. For instance, I saw the very first episode of Game of Thrones and managed to read all five books in the few weeks it took for the last episode of the first series to be broadcast. I won’t mention my interest in Lord of the Rings and the rather large collection of items I have related to it. Some consider it an unhealthy level of interest and it makes me the butt of many jokes.
Likes and dislikes
Normally a mild mannered person, I am can be changed in a bit of a road-rage lout by what I deem to be bad driving. I like cooking and trying new dishes. I was very pleased with a cake I made for my nephew for his first birthday. It was in the shape of a number ‘one’ and took two people to lift it.
I did my CCNA certification completely on my own in six weeks, studying after the working day. I bought one router, one switch and one textbook and passed.
This is most unlike my dad, maybe that is why I remember it so clearly, he deliberately tripped me up in the garden.
