London tube gets WiFi

London Transport have teamed up with Virgin Media to provide free WiFi on eighty London Underground stations.

WiFi will be accessible from ticket halls, corridors and platforms, but not between tunnels. However, the connection should be accessible again once the train reaches the station platform.Initially the service is free to all, with a charge being made to non-Virgin Media customers after the Olympics.

Stations with WiFi display this sign:

There is also a tube map showing stations where WiFi is currently active and those where it is planned. You can find out more about the service here.
